Where Does The King Crab Come From?
The king crab is a cold-water crustacean and is native to the Bering Sea. This is a sea in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean near Alaska. The king crab has spread from there in both western and eastern directions and ended up in Norway. Consequently, our king crab comes from here.

The technique used by the Norwegians is very similar to the method from Alaska. Pots are used to fish the crabs out of the water. Norwegian fishermen distinguish themselves from Alaskan or Russian fishermen by using considerably smaller boats. These boats catch a maximum of 100 king crabs per day.

The king crab is one of the largest crab-like and can reach a wingspan of nearly two meters. After being caught, the king crab is cooked on board and frozen. While cooking the king crab, its brown color changes to red. And that’s why this crab is called king crab!
